# Knowledge Base. Review Pending Claims

> Lets a website's team review, approve, or reject AI-extracted knowledge-base claims that didn't meet the auto-approval confidence bar before they can be published into a pillar.

## Purpose

The "Review pending claims" page acts as a staging area for facts and claims that Athena's AI has extracted from your connected content (like web research, your site, uploaded documents, or tracked AI responses), but which require human verification before they can be officially added to your Knowledge Base.

Athena automatically approves claims that meet a high or medium confidence threshold. However, low-confidence claims, or claims where the context isn't perfectly clear, land in this queue. This ensures that you have full control over what facts are filed into your pillars and used to ground your future AI responses.

Here, you can review the source of each pending claim, read the exact quoted excerpt it was pulled from, and decide whether to approve it into its assigned pillar or reject it entirely.

## What's on the page

* **Page header:** Displays the page title "Review pending claims" alongside a back arrow link labeled "Back to Knowledge Base".
* **Intro description:** A brief explanation of the page's purpose. It explains that high and medium confidence claims auto-approve, so only low/unknown confidence claims land here. When there are many claims, it also displays a counter (e.g., "Showing 1–100 of 150.").
* **Confidence filter tabs:** A tab strip allowing you to filter the queue of pending claims by their confidence level ("All", "High", "Medium", "Low").
* **Bulk action bar:** Appears on the right side of the filter tabs once you select at least one claim. It shows the number of selected claims ("X selected") along with bulk "Approve" and "Reject" buttons.
* **Claims list:** The main list of pending claims.
  * **Header row:** Contains a master checkbox to select all visible claims. Next to it is a summary of the current page's reviewable claims (e.g., "100 reviewable") and notes how many claims lack an assigned pillar (e.g., "· 5 without pillar").
  * **Claim row:** Each row features:
    * A checkbox for bulk selection.
    * The extracted claim text.
    * A link to the assigned Knowledge Base pillar (or an italicized "No pillar assigned").
    * A confidence badge ("High", "Medium", or "Low").
    * A source-type badge (e.g., "Web research", "AI response", "Upload", "Your site").
    * A "Source" link with an external arrow icon (if a URL is available).
    * A quoted excerpt from the source text (if available).
    * An "Approve" (checkmark) and "Reject" (X) icon button on the far right.
* **Pagination footer:** Appears at the bottom if the queue spans more than 100 items. Shows your current page (e.g., "Page 1 of 2") and provides "Previous" and "Next" buttons.

## What you can do here

* **Filter claims by confidence:** Click the "All", "High", "Medium", or "Low" tabs to filter the list. This applies a server-side filter, returns you to the first page, and clears any current selections.
* **Select all visible claims:** Check the box in the grey header row of the claims list to select every claim currently shown on the page. If only some are selected, this checkbox shows an indeterminate state.
* **Bulk approve claims:** With claims selected, click the "Approve" button in the bulk action bar. This approves all selected claims into their respective pillars.
  * *Note:* You cannot approve claims that do not have a pillar assigned. If you select unassigned claims, the tooltip will explain: `{N} selected claim(s) can't be approved — no pillar assigned`. If they are ready, the tooltip reads: `Approve {N} claim(s) across {M} pillar(s)`.
* **Bulk reject claims:** With claims selected, click the "Reject" button in the bulk action bar. This permanently rejects the selected claims (even if they have no pillar assigned) and removes them from the pending queue.
* **Approve a single claim:** Click the checkmark icon on a specific claim row to approve it into its assigned pillar. The button is disabled if no pillar is assigned, and hovering over it will show a tooltip reading: "Assign to a pillar before approving". If it has a pillar, the tooltip simply says "Approve".
* **Reject a single claim:** Click the X icon on a specific claim row to reject it. The tooltip reads "Reject".
* **View original source:** Click the "Source" link on a claim to open the cited URL in a new browser tab.
* **Navigate to pillar details:** Click the linked pillar name on a claim to jump directly to that pillar's detail page in the Knowledge Base.
* **Paginate through the queue:** Click the "Previous" or "Next" buttons at the bottom of the list to view more claims. Changing pages clears your current selection.
* **Return to Knowledge Base:** Click the "Back to Knowledge Base" link in the top-left to return to the main Knowledge Base overview.

## Data shown

The page displays pending knowledge-base claims extracted by Athena for your current website. These claims are sourced from AI responses, web research, your site's content hub, or document uploads. They are held in this queue because they have not yet been manually approved and didn't meet the system's threshold for automatic approval.

## Common workflows

**1. Bulk approving valid claims**

1. Review the list of claims on the page, reading their text and source excerpts.
2. Check the box next to each claim you want to approve. (You can also use the "Select all visible claims" checkbox in the header).
3. Hover over the "Approve" button in the top right to verify how many claims and pillars will be affected.
4. Click "Approve". A success toast will appear, the approved claims will move to their respective pillars, and your selection will clear.

**2. Clearing out unassigned or irrelevant claims**

1. Look for claims marked "No pillar assigned" or claims that are factually incorrect.
2. Select the checkbox for each irrelevant claim.
3. Click the "Reject" button in the bulk action bar.
4. A success toast will confirm the rejection, and the claims will be removed from your pending queue entirely.

**3. Investigating a low-confidence claim**

1. Click the "Low" confidence tab to filter the queue.
2. Find a claim you are unsure about and read the quoted excerpt beneath it.
3. Click the "Source" link to open the original webpage in a new tab.
4. After verifying the fact on the source page, return to Athena and click the checkmark icon to approve it or the X icon to reject it.

**4. Filter and page through the queue**

1. Click a confidence tab (All / High / Medium / Low) to narrow the queue.
2. Read the updated "Showing X-Y of Z" count and empty-state message if none match.
3. Use "Previous" and "Next" to move between pages of 100 claims.

## Empty, loading, and error states

* **Loading:** When first opening the page, the screen displays a centered skeleton block while the active website resolves, followed by 6 skeleton placeholder rows while the claims queue is being fetched.
* **Empty:**
  * If the "All" tab is selected and there are no claims, the list is replaced with a dashed box that says "Nothing to review" and "All extracted claims have been reviewed."
  * If a specific confidence tab is selected and has no claims, the box says "No \[High/Medium/Low]-confidence claims pending" and "Try a different confidence filter."
* **Error:** If a bulk approve or reject action fails, a red error toast notification will appear in the corner detailing the failure. The UI and list will automatically refresh to reflect the true state of the database so you know exactly which claims succeeded and which failed.

## Common support questions

**Why is the "Approve" button disabled for some of my claims?**
Claims can only be approved if they have an assigned Knowledge Base pillar. If a claim says "No pillar assigned", you must assign it to a pillar before you can approve it.

**If I click "Reject", does it delete the original source?**
No. Rejecting a claim only deletes the extracted fact from Athena's pending queue. It does not alter your tracked competitors, your domain links, or the original source content.

**Why don't I see any High or Medium confidence claims here?**
The introductory text notes that High and Medium confidence claims usually auto-approve straight into your pillars. They will only appear here if they somehow bypassed auto-approval or if they were flagged for another reason.

**Can I select claims across multiple pages and approve them all at once?**
No. Bulk actions (Approve/Reject) only apply to the claims you have selected on the *current* page. Navigating to the "Next" page or switching confidence tabs will clear your current selection.

**Why does my claim have a "Source" badge but no clickable link?**
Claims extracted from uploaded documents, pasted text, or AI responses often do not have a specific URL to link back to. In these cases, you'll see a badge (like "Upload" or "AI response") but no external link.
